Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Czechonomics ("we," "us," "our") publishes Czech economic data on the web at czechonomics.com and through an iOS app. This policy explains what those two products store, what they send elsewhere, and what you can ask us to delete.

There are no user accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and we have no way to connect anything described below to your identity.

2. What We Never Do

• Ask you to register, log in, or identify yourself
• Collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or contacts
• Use advertising identifiers, or share anything with advertising networks or data brokers
• Track you across other apps or websites
• Sell or rent any data

3. Data We Display

The figures in Czechonomics come from public sources, primarily the Czech National Bank (ČNB) and the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ). That data is public, unmodified, contains no information about individuals, and is freely available from the original sources.

4. The Website

czechonomics.com uses Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure loading performance. These are operated by Vercel, our hosting provider, under its own privacy policy. They do not use cookies and do not build a profile of you across sites.

The website sets no cookies of our own.

5. The iOS App

The app stores your chosen indicators — your watchlist and which figures you want to be alerted about — on our server so they survive reinstalling or changing devices. To do that it needs something to file them under, so on first launch the app generates a random identifier and keeps it on the device.

That identifier:

• Is generated on your device, not issued by us
• Contains nothing about you, your device model, or your location
• Is not linked to any account, because there are none
• Is replaced by a new random value if you delete and reinstall the app

Alongside it we store only the list of indicators you selected. We cannot tell who you are from any of this.

6. Notifications

If you turn on alerts and allow notifications, the app asks Apple for a push token and sends it to us. We store it with your selections and use it for one purpose: telling you when a new official figure is published, for example "June CPI is out — 1.5%".

Delivery goes through Expo's push service and then Apple's. Both receive the token and the text of the notification. We never send marketing or promotional notifications.

Turning notifications off — either in the app or in iOS Settings — removes the token from our server the next time the app opens. Your indicator selections stay, so switching notifications back on later works without setting them up again.

7. App Analytics

The app uses PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to record which screens are opened and which features are used — adding an indicator to a watchlist, enabling an alert, opening a comparison. PostHog assigns its own random identifier to the installation and collects technical details such as app version, device model, and operating system version.

This tells us which parts of the app are worth improving. It is not connected to the identifier described in section 5, and it is not used for advertising.

8. How Long We Keep Things

When Apple tells us a push token no longer works — most often because the app was uninstalled — we delete the token. The list of indicators you selected is kept indefinitely.

Uninstalling the app discards the random identifier from your device. What remains on our side is a list of indicator names filed under a random string, with nothing that connects it to you, your device, or anything you could be identified by.

Because there are no accounts, we cannot look up a record from a name or an email address. If you want the record for a particular installation removed, contact us and we will work out how to identify it.

9. Security

Traffic between the app, the website, and our servers is encrypted in transit. Selections and push tokens are stored on managed infrastructure operated by our hosting and database providers.

10. Third-Party Links

Czechonomics links to external sites, including the Czech National Bank and other official sources. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please review their policies separately.

11. Your Rights

You can stop the app sending us anything by turning off alerts and leaving notifications disabled; the app still works, and it will clear any push token we hold. Uninstalling the app ends it entirely. You can ask us to delete or disclose the record for an installation, as described in section 8.

12. Changes to This Policy

We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
